Why santa isnt real

When our kids act kindly out of the goodness in their hearts, not because of threats or bribes, it is naturally reinforcing. Kids that get rewarded for doing something experience less enjoyment, and are less motivated to do that behavior again!

Kids trust us fully and need us to help them make sense of the world. They rely on us to be truthful. They rely on us for security and safety. I also know kids who are frightened by Santa. Christmas is about giving, not receiving, right? If gifts are conditionally given, kids focus on themselves.

If gifts are given unconditionally, kids can focus on others, giving unconditionally to them as well. They will still believe in magic! And the Uncle Robs of the world, who are less committed to upholding the collective Santa Claus fiction, can experience it as a real source of stress.

Just ask those parents whose kids have never believed in Santa. Jennifer S. Brown, 50, describes her son as a staunch atheist and a truth-teller—so, of course, in time that happened. On two occasions in his childhood that she knows of , he revealed the truth about Santa to kids his age who believed, one of whom was his best friend in kindergarten.

The question is tricky, as this scientific debate shows. Let the classic scientific fight begin once again. The first argument against Santa's existence comes from astronomer and astrophysicist Linda Harden—formerly known as The Human Neutrino. She outlined her rationale with demolishing logic in this classic post:. Seems reasonable to me: Even if he existed, he would either burn at once or just be an fat liar who lives comfortably in a North Pole hideout surrounded by little eunuchs with pointy ears.

BUT, why end there? Here's a counterargument by programmer Jim Mantle:.
