Why saturday is the best day of the week

Except good gifts. Plus you are wrong. Though if I was the Romans I guess you point does hold. Apart from that, however: One or few of the above might have been present for the richest people in many places that the Romans conquered, but they were the ones who systematically made them available on a broad base: "Roman roads" all across the empire, bath houses in every town, acqueducts to all the cities We have enough spare intellectual capacity to deal with the complexity of such things as non-decimal math.

BTW when is Europe going to adopt the revolutionary calendar? Seven day weeks are so silly. Surprisingly I find Thursday and Friday to be my most productive days. These seems backwards from everyone else I work with who all think I'm insane for taking off early on Monday and Tuesday only to work late Thursday and Friday.

Instead I substitute the correct five day week, and accept the names of these days as: Sweetmorn, Boomtime, Pungenday, Prickle-Prickle, and Setting Orange. Join us here in the 21st and get yourself a DVR, then you can have a little bit of your Thurday, every day.

I have no idea what time slot the shows I watch are in. I just let my DVR take care of all of that for me. But if we're going by TV schedule, Sunday rules the roost in my house. At least during football season. Man, my then-pregnant wife was pissed off at ABC for doing that. Do not mess with a pregnant woman's TV schedule, especially if she's a football fan.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days. Thursday, Friday, Happy Days. Saturday, What a day, Groovin' all week with you. I always tell people that Thursday is better than Friday because Friday is closer to next Monday. No one ever seems to take this to the logical conclusion that Tuesday is better still.

But isn't Monday even further away than Tuesday from 'next Monday' making it both the best and worst day? I've usually gone with a 'days to Monday' formula, for which a given Monday the number is 0 and thereby making AM Tuesday the most completely perfect time. Courtesy of Freddie Mercury [youtube.

I go out to walk on Monday morning Tuesday I go off to honeymoon Ill be back again before it's time for sunnydown Ill be lazing on a Sunday afternoon Bicycling on every Wednesday evening Thursday I go waltzing to the zoo I come from London town I'm just an ordinary guy Fridays I go painting in the Louvre I'm bound to be proposing on a Saturday night Ill be lazing on a Sunday lazing on a Sunday Lazing on a Sunday afternoon.

The office receptionist who doesn't pay attention nor write messages down, addressing his boss: "Mr Skennel N Fent called, your meeting has been changed to Guesselenday". To this day, Thursday is a special day for me. I work a 4 day week. Well I work Friday but at home. Friday is my "get some work done", program at home day; More fun than work, really. The last working day of the week is the best.

I'm invigorated and have a "get that job done quickly and well" attitude. Nothing can bring be down because the weekend follows. The night of the last working day is the best because it's the longest period before I have to be back at work again. I actually love my work It satisfies me. Since I prefer to sleep during midday and be awake from about to about , I chose "other".

Here's hoping I can freelance long enough that I don't have to find a day job any time soon. See, its people like you who don't ever have to choose between things that think life is easy and everything can be all happy and nice. But just wait, some day you will have to choose between getting a blowjob from your wife and watching the game and drinking beer.

No reason you can't have both simultaneously; and, should she have a flat head, you have a place to put your beer! There may be more comments in this discussion. Without JavaScript enabled, you might want to turn on Classic Discussion System in your preferences instead.

What's your reasoning? Rather than just saying he sucks, elucidate why he sucks and what is a better author for comparison.

Re: Score: 2. Well, we know you're not Arthur Dent. He has problems with Thursdays. Monday is the day I can't handle. Re: Score: 3 , Funny. Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays Was I being sarcastic? Shit yeah! I do believe I'd get my ass kicked if I weren't. When you open the Tuesday compartment on Tuesday morning, the remaining lids for the closed compartments will give you a major cosmic insight: " W T F " Yes, much of the time that is the highlight of my week.

Monday - Catch up with work collegues about the weekend. Tuesday -??? Wednesday - halfway there! Thursday - best TV on in the evening, drinks with work mates Friday - any reason to elaborate? Saturday - any reason to elaborate? Sunday - lazy comedown from the 3 previous nights Hence for the last 10 years Tuesday has been renamed pint day and I, along with a loyal few, always make an effort to grab a drink or two to make it a tolerable day Of course Score: 5 , Insightful.

Retirement is great, but some people can have difficulties adjusting to it. Everyone will have to define their own perfect retirement. We all change as we get older and someday I might like Sunday more than Saturday. Have a great weekend!

Best WAS Thursday, because I used to get home from work on Friday at 7 or 8 at night and part of the weekend was already gone. I was born on a Friday. Maybe that is why I love this day the most?? My favorite time of day is bed time.

Could it be that I just like endings?? I really like going out and having fun. Stress and hard works from Mondays to Fridays needs a big blowout to your self too! My favorite day is Friday! We made it a ritual to take the kids out to eat and later to the drive-in. I am 50 and our children got to enjoy the very few last drive-in theaters here in CA. Drive ins! When the drive-ins started to fade away we continued taking them to regular theaters. Yep, it gets expensive but we made sure we always had dinner first and just brought some snaks.

Often we included some popcorn bags from Target, hey anything to save while rasing children. Then we continued with the Friday ritual. Now that we are 50…but not retired yet…we still go out for dinner and movies. Sometimes the kids will join us. I just enjoy snuggling at the movies with my husband holding hands. We are picky eaters so we already know what we are going to eat and where…I know that the food might get kind of boring for some.

We just like to eat helathy food even if it is eating out, not that adventurous with food. No fast food restaurants. We usually just stay in on Fridays now.

We are just too exhausted to do much. Unsurprised to see Saturday top the poll here… Although you make a good analogy for Sunday and relaxing in retirement, in real life it just means you have less time till you go back to work again. I like Friday, but Saturday is my favorite. It is the day of the week that our family can really play together, or just chill out, depending on how people are feeling.

Sundays are great, but the problem is around 7 pm or so I start thinking about the fact that I have to go back to work and I get a bit anxious and apprehensive. I have to do laundry work clothes for the week and get myself to bed early so that I can wake up the next morning. Saturday is the only day that I have completely to myself to sleep in, stay up late and do whatever I want all day long.

The only problem is that one day is just not enough! Saturday is the best for me, i loosen up and just let go on Saturdays. Since I work from home now, pretty much every day is my favorite day. Most of my friends are nurses so I can hang out with them pretty much whenever. Thursdays are wily: Unlike most days, there are no expectations for Thursday, and it deftly plays that lack of promise into a wealth of possibility.

Thursday is humble, understated excellence. Plus, Wednesday has a terrible disqualifying nickname which I shall not utter here. Tuesday is better, but really only because anything looks good after Monday.

Friday is manic and excitable and overrated and almost always too much — the Ace Ventura -era Jim Carrey of weekend days. Sunday is great, but Saturday is, of course, greater.

Thursday is the best. It falls late enough in the week — especially if you work in an office — that most people have chilled the fuck out.

Thursday feels like a much-deserved break. Importantly, it also avoids the pressure of the actual weekend. A lot of people — college kids especially — like to unofficially kick off the weekend on Thursday, and no wonder! Hang out and do something fun, maybe have a few drinks, but only if you want. The actual weekend is still on the way. Only an asshole would send something difficult in your direction on a Friday. Get away from that person as soon as you can. Friday never did shit for you.

Friday delights in fucking up your good time. Do not let Friday swindle you.
